Juan Silveira dos Santos is a Brazilian center-back who plays for Roma and for the Brazilian national team. He was born to competitive football in the Brazilian side Flamengo, where he showed great quality. His performances in Brazil got him a lot of attention from European sides and he was signed by German side Bayer Leverkusen. He signed for Roma in 2007.
Juan was brought to Roma to replace Chivu, who had moved to Internazionale. There was some uncertainty on whether the Brazilian would fill Chivu’s big shoes, but his class soon gained the respect of all Rossoneri.
Mixing flawless defensive concentration and impeccable timing with typical Brazilian flair, Juan is one of the best center backs in the World at this moment, and it’s an honor to see him play in Roman colors.
In the National team, he is a part of a trio of excellent Brazilian central defenders at this moment, and whether he’s teaming up with Inter’s Lucio or with Benfica’s Luisão, the defense is always rock-solid.
