Aldair, the Eternal 6

Aldair Nascimento dos Santos, Brazilian national but Roman at heart. Started his carreer at top-level in Brazil’s Flamengo, and it wasn’t long before he was brought to Europe, to play for Portugal’s Benfica. From 1990 to 2003, the “Eternal 6″ played a total of 415 matches for Roma, who, in appreciation, retired the number 6 shirt.

Fenomenal positioning skills and pace were his trademarks, but he was also known among the tiffosi as a fenomenal and tireless worker. Typical Brazilian flair added some spice to this great player’s game.

Honors in Rome, honors for Brazil. He won the 1994 World Cup and was part of the squad for the 1990 and 1998 World Cup also.
